President Trump and his administration is an ongoing disaster for the United States. However, that doesn’t mean that every decision he makes is a new low in the presidency. By now, you’ve probably read or uheard about the US missile strike in Syria.
PolitiFact Wisconsin rated a statement by Rep. Mark Pocan that “There is no legal basis for last night’s missile strike in Syria” as False. Relevant portion below:
Because the air strikes were undertaken by cruise missiles that put virtually no American lives at risk and because the strikes lasted only minutes, the president’s action would seem to be a lawful use of force under the Constitution.
It’s agreed that any expanded military operation would require authorization from Congress.
The simple fact is that what presidents are allowed to do with the military has only increased in scope over the years.
